As the title suggests, Encore Mode is a second helping of the original story with changes made to mechanics and level design instead of plot. ![]() The physical edition includes a concept art book and Genesis-era reversible cover, but just so those who bought the original version don’t miss out, Mania Plus includes game content that can be bought separately for those who own the digital version, including two playable characters and the new Encore Mode.Įncore Mode takes place directly after Classic Sonic’s dimension-hopping adventure in Modern Sonic’s world during Forces, but while it’s technically a sequel story, there are only minor changes to the plot of the main campaign after Sonic returns to his universe. The game originally released digitally with a limited edition physical release, but by popular demand, a physical edition called Sonic Mania Plus was released. ![]() While its follow-up made by the main Sonic Team, Sonic Forces, didn’t live up to its potential, Sonic Mania still remains relevant because of how much love and passion was put into it. Ray the Flying Squirrel makes his first playable appearance in years, and despite requiring some practice, Ray’s gliding can be the perfect speedrunning tool in the right hands.
